The Audi Q8 exudes sporty dynamics and noble prestige like no other SUV of the brand with the four rings. At 4.99 meters long, 2.00 meters wide and 1.71 meters high, the SUV coupe is wider, shorter and lower than its sister model Q7. At a wheelbase of just 3.00 meters, it offers a space that exceeds the direct competitors in the most relevant dimensions, such as interior length and headroom. The triple seat system in the rear can be moved longitudinally if desired. If you fold down your backrests, the luggage compartment under the electrically operated tailgate holds up to 1,755 liters.

Exterior design
The Audi Q8 presents the Q-family’s new face with the impressive single-frame octagon design. The powerful grille stands upright and, in combination with the forwardly drawn spoiler and the large, highly contoured air inlets, emphasizes the self-confident look. The elegantly sloped roof line runs in flat inclined D-pillars and rests on the quattro blisters above the wheel arches, which accommodate large wheels – up to 22 inches. In many details, the design reveals echoes of the original quattro. Strong contours and athletic tense surfaces convey power, high quality and the special dynamics of permanent four-wheel drive. Spoilers, wheel arch covers, door trim strips and diffuser are highlighted in color, emphasizing the off-road look.

As standard, LED headlamps illuminate the street, on request in HD matrix LED technology. Here the three-dimensional daytime running light signature has a digital character, similar to the tail light. A light band connects the units at the rear.

As with the Audi Ur-quattro, it is underlaid with a black area. With the myAudi app, Q8 owners can activate many lighting functions via smartphone and experience them from the outside.

Audi is quattro, and quattro is Audi – of course, this applies especially to the Q8, the brand’s top SUV. Its purely mechanical center differential directs the forces by default in the ratio 40:60 on the front and rear axles. If necessary, it sends the majority to the axle with the better traction. Combined with up to 254 millimeters of ground clearance, short overhangs and the downhill assistant, the Audi Q8 continues even where paved roads end. The chassis with damper control is standard. On request, Audi can mount the air suspension adaptive air suspension with regulated damping, either in comfort or in sporty settings. It varies the trim position of the body depending on the driving situation and driver’s request by up to 90 millimeters.

In addition to the standard progressive steering, whose transmission becomes more direct as the steering angle increases, Audi also offers four-wheel steering as an option. It can hit the rear wheels up to 5 degrees – in opposite directions at low speed to increase agility, in the same direction in favor of stability at high speed.

All drives are particularly efficient thanks to the new mild hybrid technology (MHEV). The 48-volt main on-board network incorporates two important technology components: a lithium-ion battery and a belt starter generator. When decelerating, it can recover up to 12 kW of power and feed it into the battery. The MHEV technology allows long sailing periods with the engine off and a start-stop range that starts at 22 km / h.

Interior
Easy-to-understand graphics stand for Audi’s digital precision as well as the high degree of integration of architecture and operation. The central element is the upper MMI touch response display. With its black panel optics, it is almost invisibly integrated into a large black area when switched off. All elements are logically related – from the flat air vent strap to the wide console on the center tunnel that carries the tiptronic selector lever. In the dark, the optional contour light retraces the distinctive design lines in the interior and backlit the three-dimensionally lasered quattro badge above the glove compartment – an example of Audi’s detail love. Individual contoured seats with massage function and ventilation, a four-zone automatic climate control system and the Air Quality package with aromatisation and ionizer complete the classy ambience on request.

In the MMI touch response operating concept of the Audi Q8, almost all functions can be called up via two large displays. The upper 10.1-inch diagonal is used to control the infotainment and navigation. On the 8.6-inch display underneath, the driver manages air conditioning, comfort functions and text input, whereby he can conveniently and ergonomically place his wrist on the selector lever.
